Week One: Lines and Shapes

Alright sAliNaS sKeTcHerS!!! It was fun meeting everyone as we got off to a GREAT start last Wednesday! The entire class cruised through drawing with lines and shapes.

Everyone got started with line warm ups. Shown clockwise, starting in upper left are warm ups by Alex, Edna, and Leo.

Your drawings from last week are posted below. Please check the comments for suggestions for practicing this week. Here is a link to the reference picture of the crab and fish for comparing your drawings: Click here

And now...

This week's drawing challenge:
Draw Tonatiuh's Face.
Draw outlines of the shapes that make the face of the Aztec god. If you have time, lightly draw the different gray tones. I'll start collecting finished drawings this Wednesday to post on the blog. Draw big! Go for it! To view Tonatiuh's face reference picture: Click here

I got inspired by faces and skulls painted by students after looking at your wall murals last Wednesday! Here's what I drew: Click here

For more info on outlines, here's a drawing by Pablo Picasso: Click here
(If any of you are feeling adventurous this week, and have time, try drawing Pablo Picasso's picture.)

I look forward to drawing with you Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.! --Rob
